FEAR is a very fine offering from Monolith Productions’ that is still today my favorite. In that game which is also an RPG adventure you get intense combat and some very scarey moments. Also at the moment you can get FEAR for just $1 on PC.

What Makes FEAR Special

FEAR featured action packed shooting with elements of horror. Released in 2005 the game is still very much enjoyed today. Monolith put together a unique experience which mixed military action with supernatural scare elements.

Amazing Combat System

FEAR’s action scenes are top notch. Bullets fly into walls. Also enemies react very truly when they are hit. The slow motion feature allows you to avoid bullets which is right out of an action film.

Creepy Atmosphere

In games we see tension built between firefights. Also report of spectral visions which go by in play. Unusual sounds that which play in empty halls. Not many games do what this one does in bringing together action and horror.

Opponents in FEAR are very perceptive. They will outflank you at the first chance. Also they will throw in a grenade to get you out of that safe cover of yours. That AI was ahead of its time.

Great Storytelling

The story is told via phone messages and visions. You put together what transpired at the facility. This informal approach to storytelling works well.

FARE had a lot of original elements which in turn shaped the design of many action and RPG games which followed. Also present in many recent titles are elements which we see in FEAR.
